I purchased several of these to use in a weekly Spanish class that I teach to 3rd 6th graders My decision was heavily influenced by the fact that the dictionaries have the phonetic pronunciation included for each word Curiously most childrens dictionaries omit this very important feature Unless you are fluent in Spanish youyour child will need help with correct pronunciation Otherwise you will find yourselves saying jab on instead of ha BON for soap and pronouncing amarillo yellow like the city in Texas instead of correctly saying a ma REE yo The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that one must flip to the back of the book to find the pronunciation The book would be much easier to use if each word had the phonetic pronunciation on the same page instead of in the back With well over 1000 words included some pages are really packed so I can understand why that might not be very practical Also Spanish varies slightly from country to country Most Hispanic people that I am likely to encounter are from Mexico There are a few definitions that are not Mexican Spanish I can live with that though Overall this is a very good product for a very good price
