I struggle to manage to use manipulatives with the whole class because of the time to organise and because we simply don't have that many resources so I had high hopes that this book would give me some great ideas I was disappointed it's not that prescriptive but it's not that inspirational either A lot of it seems to be using found materials to represent place value and at least 50% involves writing an answer on a whiteboard I don't fancy the lesson when 15 pairs of children need 20 counters somehow already grouped in pairs that's 300 chunky shaped counters 150 elastic bands and 20 minutes of break time getting ready for a 10 minute session I will try to use this book because it was very expensive
